We currently have exciting opportunities for a Quantity Surveyor with significant experience in a commercial role to join our Gas Pipeline Maintenance Centre team to assist in growing the business and commercially managing a portfolio of diverse projects.
As a Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Lead at National Grid you will lead on pre-contract activities supporting the operational teams in identifying opportunities and bidding/tendering for new works, build detailed quantity estimates, offer commercial expertise and guidance whilst demonstrating excellent negotiation and customer skills. This diverse role will enable you to develop wide business skills, including project controls, marketing, contract tendering as well as an opportunity to work with very experienced commercial and engineering subject matter experts. Key Accountabilities: * Seek out market information and intelligence * Hold regular interface meetings with existing and potential new customers * Deliver presentations to customers of our services * Contribute to the development of new and innovative products and services * Take the lead on providing responses to pre-qualification invitations and invitations to tender for contracts up to £10m * Build detailed quantity estimates in close collaboration with operational staff * Liaise with the Commercial and Legal team in agreement contract terms * Track works during delivery supporting operational staff in estimating and negotiating change * Provide financial forecasts and project reporting * Support operational staff in delivering financial targets * Undertake commercial assurance checks to ensure business controls are being followed Knowledge & Experience Required: * Demonstrate commercial technical knowledge and experience of working within a contracting environment gained from the Energy, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petroleum Industries * Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline * An extensive track record in an equivalent Commercial role * Excellent negotiation and customer management skills * Excellent communication and presentation skills * High degree of commercial and financial acumen required * Proven track record of working in and contributing to high performance teams Who we are At National Grid, we don’t just ask our people to deliver to the highest standards.
