We re looking for an experienced Welder / Fitter to join our team.
Working at our Darrington Quarry but covering the surrounding quarries, your day to day work will be varied with the opportunity to work on a wide range of equipment. We cannot afford to have gaps in production so you will be required to think quickly and find a solution to get equipment up and running with minimal delay.
Your responsibilities will be to:
Fulfil the full range of duties of a multi skilled fitter maintaining / repairing all types of plant and attending breakdowns at other quarry sites.
To undertake fabrication work and adaptations to equipment as necessary.
Carry out effective planned maintenance and remedial repairs.
Attend emergency breakdowns and complete mechanical fault finding.
Work closely with the qualified engineering team and ensure the efficient and effective use of workshop facilities and equipment.
Plan your work to minimise waste of raw materials.
Communicate with external contractors as necessary.
To be considered for our role you will need:
Minimum BS4872 qualification for welding vertical up and flat, stick and mig, thickness 8mm and upwards
Experience with tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
The ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
Familiarity with industrial mobile and fixed plant
To be a problem solver, able to think on your feet to fix things. You will need a lot of common sense and be able to come up with solutions and ideas of your own.
